What is Phentermine?!

Phentermine (phentermine, duromin, duromin, ionamin, ionamin, durominc, adipex) - phenethylamine, sympathomimetic drug, a derivative of amphetamine, primarily used to suppress appetite. Phentermine suppresses appetite by affecting the central nervous system similar to amphetamine.

Typically prescribed to people suffering from obesity, instead of surgical methods. Phentermine is implemented as a fast form (adipex) and in the form of resins with prolonged action (ionamin, duromine Australia and New Zealand).

Know of only one prospective randomized controlled trial, which lasted more than 6 months, which assessed the effectiveness of phentermine for weight loss. In this study, published in 1968, attended by 108 women with obesity therapy which consisted of a low-calorie diet (1000 kcal / day) and a daily intake of phentermine and placebo (dummy) interleaved in a month, or just a placebo for 36 weeks. 64 patients who participated in the study reduced their weight by 13% from baseline.

According to official statistics, in 1998, the UK doctors have been issued 20 000 prescriptions for this drug. However, according to some estimates the real consumption of phentermine was significantly higher, as not less than 100 000 British women took the drug. Currently in the UK market were only 2 drugs for those wishing to lose weight with pills - methyl cellulose and orlistat.
